Indonesian-based brand DEVÁ STATES was launched in 2015 by two friends, Theo Kusuma and Mol Edrin. Their streetwear is a clever combination of the youth culture, typography, and dystopian science fiction of the capital city of Jakarta, and they have expanded their activities to the rest of the world. With the Sanskrit word "Devá" meaning "all that is excellent" in addition to "sacred," DEVÁ STATES pays homage to the diverse heritage they have received. The collection features designs that incorporate a wide variety of elements, from punk rock, horror movies, and the ancient Japanese spirit of "wabi-sabi," which honors the beauty of imperfection. Simple yet fresh, DEVÁ STATES designs have a retro-futuristic feel that has attracted the attention of select stores around the world.
